Basics
COVID-19 update: FSA requires masks for all who enter the school, students, teachers, staff, and parents/volunteers at least through the end of August. Guideline are being updated regularly, please review Covid-19 information posted on FSA’s website here. The Operational Procedures section refers specifically to mask policies.
MSO Website: MUSTANG SUPPORT ORGANIZATION
– We are still in progress of updating the website to make it relevant for this year.
MSO Email: board@fsamso.org – please note this is a new email, we are transitioning out from the old email by the end of October.
Opt-out: We’d love to keep sending newsletters to all FSA families, but we understand if you’re
not interested. To opt out of future communication, please send a request to Board@msofsa.org.
You can always opt back in by sending a request in kind to the same email.
This organization is the PTA/PTO equivalent for FSA. We are funded by donations and an activity fee included in your tuition payments. We use these fees to fund events throughout the year to serve our students and faculty and administration (Event schedule on website and below). We are always looking for volunteers to get involved by helping at these events and especially for event chairs to run them. More information on how to get involved below.
This year, we have a new board, serving for the next two years. We are:
Co-President: Dawn Parker
Co-President: Hemang Shah
Treasurer: Cyndi Dieker
Secretary/Communications: Amy West
VP Technology: Chris Watson
VP Parent Engagement & Room Parents: Sheva Kachru
Our profiles are on fsamso.org/mso-board and the best way to reach us all is to email us. Some of us are likely to be at the school occasionally during the day, and at school events, so please introduce yourselves, we’d love to meet you.
During the in-person hours on Friday for elementary orientation and locker decoration day on Saturday, we will be at the school to greet you and answer any questions you may have.
We’re also selling gently used uniform pieces for $5 each. We can take cash or credit. If you have any old uniforms to donate for future sales, please bring them and drop off at the sale.
Please remember to wear masks to orientation and locker decorating days, even if you are vaccinated. We are following FSA policy.
Volunteering
- Events:
We are always looking for volunteers for our events. Our Get Involved page will have links to sign up to volunteer for events and we will send reminders through these newsletters.
Almost every month, the MSO sponsors lunches for all the teachers and staff at FSA. We pick a grade every month to help by decorating the lunchroom, bringing some desserts, and meeting with them.
- Room Parents – essential for all our FSA classrooms.
Teachers will be asking for volunteers when school starts. We’d love to have two room parents for every classroom. In past years, some classrooms had to go without this vital volunteer role filled. In other classrooms, the volunteer has been the room parent every year! The MSO would like to help fill these roles for classrooms where there aren’t enough volunteers, or for room parents who are simply burned out. So please sign up, if we can’t get you into your student’s class, we’ll do our best to offer you a classroom that is in the same grade.
What does a room parent do?
Room Parents help to support our students, teachers, and classrooms throughout the school year. Room Parents work to serve as a liaison between FSA MSO and the classroom community. These individuals help to support the teachers in a variety of ways throughout the school year as needs arise, as well as help to encourage community engagement throughout the school year. Specific room parents duties may vary by grade level and/or teacher, as each classroom community may have unique needs, but the overall role of our room parents is to help foster a community among our FSA families and FSA in an effort to provide our students with the best possible experience while at FSA!
